Doris Ann (Banta) Hunt

Doris Ann Banta was born on the cold, snowy Tuesday night, February 25, 1941, in a  little home that sat behind the rock house on A Highway in  Diggins, Missouri.  She departed this life on February 2, 2025, at the age of 83.

Doris was the second born child to Wilson and Lela (Nease)   Banta. She was welcomed by her parents and sister, Shirley Jean Banta.

Doris grew up on the family farm near the Pleasant View Church in Elkland, Missouri where the family attended worship.

When Doris was 12 years old, she met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Hunt. They married when she was only 16 years old to become Doris Ann Hunt on June 16, 1957, at the Evangelical Methodist Church in Marshfield, Missouri.

The couple resided in Springfield, Missouri until 1983 when they moved their family to a family farm in Webster County, Missouri.

While living in the city Doris worked at S.S. Kresge and Heers Department Store on the square, then later at Lily Tulip “on nights”.

In 1968 their first child, Sharon Kay Hunt, was born. They welcomed their son, Robert Glen Hunt, Jr. in 1972.

Bob and Doris worked diligently to open their own car repair business, Bob’s Body Shop. The “Body Shop” grew to include a mechanic business and towing service for over 32 years.

Doris enjoyed many hobbies. She loved to crochet. She could duplicate an already crocheted article or create her own pattern.

Doris loved to cook biscuits and gravy for the deer  hunters on opening day. She had a secret fantasy fudge recipe and shared her candy with everyone around her.

Doris oil painted several landscape scenes on canvas watching Bob Ross. Doris became hooked on scrapbooking, journaling and coloring with gel pens.

Doris loved her family. She welcomed her son-in-love, Danny Hodges (Sharon) in 1988 and daughter-in-love, Kellie Nunn (Rob) in 1996. She loved and treated them as they were her own children.

Over the next 33 years, she was blessed with seven grandkids plus five spouses/fiancés, four great grandkids plus one to join the family in a few weeks.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Hunt, Sr; her parents, Wilson and Lela (Nease) Banta; her sister, Shirley (Banta) Hunt and Don; her son-in-love, Danny Hodges; her granddaughter, Krystal Belle Hodges; and her cousin, Kathyleen Hunt.
